Super Sketchbooks

This month's Fun With Fabric evening project at Chertsey Museum was covered sketchbooks.  All the ladies see the same samples, they are given the same instruction sheet, and they have the sames boxes of resources to rummage through - it always amazes me how varied their results are!

All different, but all great!

Thanks ladies, I had a great evening

Covered Boxes

I confess I didn't feel the love for this month's project, and that made it very difficult to teach, but the group ignored my feelings and got on with it, making some great linings, and adapting (ignoring?) the instructions and adding all sorts of extras!

We also had our usual Show & Tell and admired the completed tissue pouches - including one made to match the crazy patch bag!

School for Sewing (evening)

On a Tuesday evening at school I am teaching very basic dressmaking, with emphasis on speed and simplifying!

We have over 100 Aladdin costumes to make, so we have learnt how to adapt a 4 piece pattern to a 2 piece, and how to chain piece, as well as how to make pyjama bottoms (the pattern we are using).  We have learnt how to take an existing item and make a pattern from it, and we have learnt great respect for people who work mass producing clothing!!!

School For Sewing (afternoon)

I am teaching the Y4 class at school how to use the machine embroidery sewing machine and software - they are picking it up so quickly - and are teaching me new stuff!  (I've only been using it for 8 years!)

Crafty Church

Yesterday was a great day - in the afternoon I ran Kids Crafty Church: we made super hero masks, hema bead designs and corn dollies made from wool (thanks Kate)

The kids decided the corn dollies could be earrings, but mum threatened to not be my friend if I published her photo - is this an acceptable compromise?

Then in the evening I ran Biunting Bonamza - a bunting making session - it was great fun and I forgot to take photos during , but grabbed this pic of Lucy and Kathy before they went home !
