February at St Michael's

Crafty Church at St Michael's saw a few new members and lots of great creativity:

Yasmin and Carolin worked on Yasmin's shawl

I had fun playing with Lesley's felting kit

While Lesley cut out felt flowers that she wants to felt onto a scarf

I think the felting needle was far superior to the one I had: one blade and no handle, so I glued it into a lippy case to make it easier!

Alex is working from a book called Quilting For dummies, and is making this trapunto flower - the book suggests the cut-into-the-back-and-shove-in-some wadding method - I did show her the cut away method that Kandy taught the BQLers a few years ago

And their mum is working on her tapestry, and I need photography lessons!

February at Chertsey Museum

 Thanks to this book

And these pre-made samples (thanks Avril) we learnt reverse applique

With the help of freezer paper to stabilise the block fabric (the square) we were apply to apply a second fabric behind the fabric, with no visible stitches :-)

Two class samples

And back and front of one with a fussy cut applique patch
