Mellow Yellow
At Chertsey Museum the classes have been arranged by the lovely, and now very pregnant Sally. Sally has just gone on maternity leave, and the group decided we would make some yellow and white blocks to create a quilt for the baby.
I got photos of a few under construction last Friday
(it is coincidence that these are both foundation pieced flying geese)
And the first finished block arrived in the post today - it's lovely Deborah, I'm so glad you felt you could part with it!

Broom Farm sewing
At last I remembered to take photos of the creative loveliness that is happening at the Adult Education class I teach at the Broom Farm Army camp on a Monday afternoon:
Monika is working on two pirate pieces which will become floor cushion covers
Jane brought some traditional sampler blocks last week, but this week wanted to work on this advent calendar. The work was unpicking rather than stitching, but she's much happier with it now
Sally is working on a craft caddy for a mug - I'll get a photo of a mug 'wearing' a caddy, then it will make lots more sense! This was a 'back of a cupboard' for two years but she's steaming ahead now . . .
and has inspired Katie to make one too!

February at St Michael's
Crafty Church at St Michael's saw a few new members and lots of great creativity:
Yasmin and Carolin worked on Yasmin's shawl
I had fun playing with Lesley's felting kit
While Lesley cut out felt flowers that she wants to felt onto a scarf
I think the felting needle was far superior to the one I had: one blade and no handle, so I glued it into a lippy case to make it easier!
Alex is working from a book called Quilting For dummies, and is making this trapunto flower - the book suggests the cut-into-the-back-and-shove-in-some wadding method - I did show her the cut away method that Kandy taught the BQLers a few years ago
And their mum is working on her tapestry, and I need photography lessons!

February at Chertsey Museum
Thanks to this book
And these pre-made samples (thanks Avril) we learnt reverse applique
With the help of freezer paper to stabilise the block fabric (the square) we were apply to apply a second fabric behind the fabric, with no visible stitches :-)
Two class samples
And back and front of one with a fussy cut applique patch
